Our distinguished and experienced instructors include individuals who have held high level management or staff positions in the industry and most hold advanced degrees.

Mike Kilgore oversees our training programs and is eminently qualified with over 20 years of managerial experience at a number of major properties, hotels, and resorts. His previous power plant operations and maintenance experience for major corporations and the government makes him extremely knowledgeable in both plant operations and training requirements.

Mike has served as an Assistant Professor at Cornell University where he taught engineering and facilities management to junior, senior, and graduate students at Cornell's hotel school. He also taught boiler operations classes at Montgomery College, and business management at the University of Hawaii. Mr. Kilgore sits on U.S. Department of Energy's BestPractices Steam Training Subcommittee. In his role as a committee member, Mr. Kilgore is charged with the role of identifying and implementing BestPractices Steam Challenge Training to complement presently available training and to fill needs not presently being met by the marketplace.

Richard Klein is an Energy Auditor with over fifteen years in the energy field as a consultant. He is experienced in the areas of system enterprise integration, benchmarking of complex technical and organizational structures, and business policy development and implementation. He excels in developing detailed optimization and forecasting models that facilitate organizations' structural modification, and allow optimization of revenue stream.

During his careers, Mr. Klein has consulted to a large percentage of Federal Agencies including DOD, DOE, DOT, DOC, EPA, and DOA. On the private side, he has consulted to Fortune 500 Companies and other corporate enterprises nationally.

Mr. Klein holds Masters Degrees in Management Science, Decision Theory and in Operations Research, Resource Management. He is a licensed professional engineer and a member in good standing of the Association of Energy Service Professionals and the Knowledge Management Benchmarking Association.

Bill Orthwein has twenty-three years of experience dealing with energy and air pollution issues with expertise in the areas of environmental program outreach and compliance. Mr. Orthwein, a Certified Energy Manager, has provided project support for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and the General Services Administration. Specifically, Mr. Orthwein has vast experience with the U.S. Department of Energy's Office of Industrial Technology (OIT) Best Practices Program as it relates to Motor and Steam Systems Management. Bill has extensive knowledge on all of OIT's software decision support tools such as Motor Master Plus, ASDMaster, Air Master Plus, Pump System Assessment Tool, and 3 Eplus. His vast training experience on the topics of Motor and Steam Systems Technology and Applications makes him the ideal candidate to walk you through ways you can better enhance the productivity, reliability and efficiency of your facility. Mr. Orthwein has a B.S. in Business Administration from Oklahoma State University, and a Masters in Environmental and Resource Policy from George Washington University.

Sam Schell has an extensive background in boilers, heating, ventilating, and air conditioning (HVAC), refrigeration, and facilities operations. His technical expertise in the design and start-up of gas turbine and fossil fuel power plants benefits clients in both a hands-on and advisory capacity. Sam has been an instructor for over twenty years, and continues to teach at several local colleges. He has developed and directed hands on training in the U.S. and abroad. His training videos and comprehensive boiler training software programs are widely used.

Mr. Schell has U.S. Navy Nuclear Power training and a Mechanical Engineering education from Kennedy Western University and his licenses and certifications include General Physics Instructor Certification, EPA Asbestos Safety Instructor Certification, and MD Hazardous Waste Incineration Certification. Sam is also a contributing writer for Plant Services magazine.
