Industrial Interactions Inc. performs walk-through energy audits of facilities to assess how much energy a facility consumes, and to identify economical energy conservation and saving opportunities. A variety of techniques and tools are employed during this process, ranging from infrared scanning to common hand tools. Facility Managers can choose to have energy audits for the entire facility or parts of the facility or systems.
Target Audience
The walk-through energy audits are geared towards industrial facilities of all sizes, including manufacturing facilities, corporate and commercial buildings, government buildings, universities, correctional institutions, hotels, and hospitals.
Energy Audit Overview
Below is an overview of systems, technologies, and equipment that are covered during our walk-through audit:
Lighting System
- Identify type of light installed
- Are existing lighting levels higher than the recommended levels?
- Are lights on in unoccupied areas?
Compressed Air Systems
- High pressure drops
- Intentional pressure reductions
- Throttle control
- Load-unload controls
- Compressor speeds
Refrigeration Systems
- Refrigeration compressors
- Optimization of refrigeration systems
- Heat recovery
Steam Systems
- Combustion efficiency
- Stack temperature
- Boiler operating targets
- Number and functioning of steam traps
- Boiler efficiency
- Heat recovery
- Efficiency and performance of steam systems
Material Handling Systems e.g. fans and blowers
- Speed of blower or fan
- Dust collection system material handling fans
Motors, belts, and drives
- Motor cost and efficiency
- Motor operation time
- Electrical power requirement
Energy Management
- Facility energy consumption
- Demand charges
- Billing schedule
- Power factor correcting capacitors
- Account consolidation
Once a facility energy audit is completed, data is analyzed using computer software and an audit report is prepared and presented to the facility. The report includes a detailed assessment and analysis of the current energy consumption patterns, and outlines a list of energy saving options that are available to the facility, estimated annual savings if any of the options are to be implemented, estimated implementation costs and a simple payback rate of return.
Plant Security
When an energy audit is completed, the data can be used to update the "as builts" in the facility. This is valuable information that should be available to plant personnel in the event of a security situation or natural disaster. System descriptions and operating procedures can also be updated at this same time.
In addition to an energy audit, we can provide a risk assessment, penetration testing, and security policy development for your facility's information security network.
Contact us today at (703) 573-4500 to schedule an energy audit and/or security audit of your facility.
